Diabetes Management
There are more than 25.8 million children and adults in the United States with diabetes, and one out of four people who have diabetes does not know it, according to the American Diabetes Association. Do you know what your blood sugar (glucose) level is?
Diabetes affects how the body uses sugar. There are two types of diabetes, type 1 and type 2. People with type 1 diabetes do not produce insulin, a hormone that helps the body use sugar for energy. People with type 1 diabetes must take insulin. Our caring specialists will help keep you informed of the latest advances in self-monitoring equipment and medications.
People with type 2 diabetes may not produce enough insulin or the insulin does not work as it should. Type 2 diabetes is becoming all too common among overweight adults and children in America. In some cases, type 2 diabetes can be prevented.
Some people develop pre-diabetes before experiencing type 2 diabetes. We will help you understand pre-diabetes and type 2 diabetes and teach you how you may lower your blood sugar levels with weight loss, exercise, and dietary changes. Our providers will teach you how to monitor your blood sugar levels and instruct you about how to use medications if necessary.
It is very important that people with type 1, type 2, and pre-diabetes learn how to take an active role in managing their blood sugar to remain healthy and reduce the risk of the serious medical complications associated with diabetes.
CABUN Rural Health Services provides quality affordable diabetes management and education for all persons, regardless of ability to pay.

Flu shots are approved for people that are older than 6 months of age. They are especially important for people with a high risk for complications from the flu, such as older adults or those with certain health conditions. Ask your doctor if flu shots are right for you.
